With every day that passes, we read frightening headlines of data breaches, theft, ransomware, and other acts that give us all pause. Just yesterday a high-profile hotel chain warned customers that their credit card information, including the cardholders’ names, has been stolen by hackers. Though early in the investigation, it’s believed the hackers broke in and maintained their access for almost a year.
A recent poll found 52% of respondents anticipate their company will be compromised in some sort of attack in the next year. Other responses in the same survey indicated low confidence in existing solutions, as well as concern over the security of mobile devices. Others indicated their biggest area of concern was spear-phishing, the attempt to obtain usernames, passwords, and other information from targeted individuals.
